Jack Hinman, Psy.D.

Executive Director & Co-Founder

Jack Hinman, Psy.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist, co-founder, and Executive Director of Engage Young Adult Transitions. For more than 26 years, Jack has worked with adolescents, young adults, and families across hospital, residential treatment, wilderness therapy, outpatient, community mental health, and transitional living settings.

Jack specializes in young adult mental health and transitional treatment, with a particular focus on emerging adulthood and young adults struggling to successfully move toward independence, sometimes described as failure to launch. He co-founded Engage after seeing a need for high-quality clinical care that allows young adults to continue moving forward in their lives while receiving meaningful support.

His clinical philosophy centers on structured autonomy, compassionate persistence, and individualized support. Jack believes young adults do best when they have a secure relational base, clear expectations, and the opportunity to practice independence while still receiving the clinical and relational support needed to keep moving forward.

Jack’s clinical interests include the intersection of attachment and autism, ADHD in emerging adulthood, social connection and isolation among young adults, and the role relationships play in developing identity, resilience, and independence. He has presented nationally on topics related to young adult mental health and development, including the Autism Symposium and National NATSAP conferences.

Jack is active in the young adult treatment field nationally and currently serves on the board of the Young Adult Transition Association. He previously served as Chair of the Southern Utah Program Alliance and has also appeared on podcasts discussing young adult treatment and emerging adulthood.

As Executive Director, Jack also leads admissions at Engage, allowing him to remain closely connected to young adults, families, referring professionals, and the clinical team. He is especially proud of helping build an experienced team and seeing Engage become known nationally as a strong and reputable young adult transition program.

Jack holds a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.). He is also the father of two thriving young adults, which gives him another perspective on the opportunities, challenges, and importance of this stage of life.
