"Guiding young adults to meaningful connections"

"Guiding young adults to meaningful connections"

Attachment Driven

Engaged

The foundations of Engage’s therapeutic and life coaching approaches are rooted in attachment theory. The way we engage, support and intervene with our young adults should always support their journey to building healthy attachment with us, their family, friends, and their community. We should always do our best to be securely responsive and consistent. We are self-aware of our own attachment style and its impact on our young adults and our team. We strive towards creating a secure base for our young adults to develop the security and confidence to freely explore their world.

Radical Ownership

Engaged

Lasting change occurs when we truly take ownership of selves and our experience. Radical ownership is taking full responsibility for our thoughts, words, and resulting action or inaction. We take ownership of our relationships and our impacts on others. We never walk past a problem without fixing it or making sure the problem is addressed correctly. With support, care, and patience, we help our young adults move into taking radical ownership of their lives and experiences.

Curiosity Minded

Engaged

You can only grow if you are willing to learn. You can only learn if you are curious. Be curious of the world and of others. Be curious of others who are different from you. We are willing to learn from others and we are willing to learn from our mistakes. We are willing to learn from our young adults and their families. Our young adults and their families can teach us a lot. Truly being curious of others we can only truly understand them. Be open to listening to the client who may know what is best for them.

Attunement

Engaged

Attunement is the foundation to all meaningful connections. Attunement is being responsive to others needs and honoring their experience. Attunement is understanding the power of showing up and doing our best to be fully present. Attunement is  being aware of your own emotional experience and needs and how we impact others. When ruptures in connection occur with our young adults and with other members of the team, which they will, it is  important that we repair the rupture and restore the connection. Repair of relationship ruptures can be the most impactful opportunities for attachment work to occur.

Connection

Engaged

Connection is the outcome and the intervention. When we feel connected, we thrive. When we feel connected we feel motivated. The need to connect with others is as basic as our need for food, water, and shelter. Feeling connected is vital to our overall well being. We are all hardwired for the need for connection. Often it is fear that is creating barriers to securely connected with others. We believe you need to also be connected to your community, to nature, and more importantly yourself.

Health

Engaged

Health is the precursor to every other core value. By putting a value on your health you are making yourself a priority. Health means eating right, sleeping enough, exercising, and staying true to your needs. Health also means interpersonal wellness. Having a healthy relationship with one’s self and others creates positive networks, support systems, and communities.

Honoring Developmental Growth

Engaged

Honoring developmental growth means understanding adulthood. Healthy emerging adulthood entails self-focus, instability, identity exploration, feeling in-between adolescence and adulthood, and a sense of possibilities. Our young adults need our therapeutic guidance and coaching due to struggles moving effectively into young adulthood. We are cognizant of the socioeconomic challenges that this generation of young adults face when transitioning into adulthood. All what we do and say leads to honoring our client's growth into becoming a healthy independent young adult while understanding the challenges they face.
